Angela and Kevin's Wedding
Angela and Kevin's wedding was a lot of fun to shoot. They spoiled Kathryn and I with natural light at the reception. I still love them for that!

The Washington DC Collection
This weekend my Fiancee and I went to Washington DC to visit family and we had a BLAST. Her Uncle Richard and Aunt Emma took us all around DC and these were some of my favorite shots. The sky was BEAUTIFUL that day and I had lots of fun exposing for the clouds!
This first shot was the front of a bus that was part of the Folklife festival happing right next to our metro station. I love the eye on the headlight

Tie Die
This shoot was LOADS of fun to do. The models were really great and the tie dye was a lot of fun to use as an element for the shots. Special thanks to Shelby (she's the one with all the tattoos) because this was her first shoot with capture photograhy and even though she was nervous she did a FANTASTIC job!

"I'll have a hot chocolate and a bit of art please"

So, I went to get a cup of hot chocolate with a friend of mine the other day. Without thinking about it I ordered my drink from my barrista friend Matt Trogdon. I went and sat down next to the beautiful bay window that The Coffee Exchange offers its clients and waited for my drink. When it arrived I had good laugh because I had forgetten that my barrista friend Matt is a "latte artist" using the foam, whipped topping, or chocolate that tops your drink Matthew will make one of his beautiful designs for you to enjoy before slurping down your caffeine fix for the day. I greatly encourage you to stop by the coffee exchange and ask for Matt Trogdon to make you a piece of his art, tell him Nathan sent you.

Musician in studio

Here are a couple of shots I did while shooting a business card for Joshua McKelvey. Josh is a very talented musician who plays several different horns and a bit of bass. He was a very easy model to work with

Published

These are a couple of photos that I shot for a gun magazine writer. The photos themselves are pretty boring but they worked well with the article. These were published first in Magnum magazine in South Africa and will be published again in the Netherlands and Italy. I have articles coming out in America later this month

Big Moment

This is honestly kind of a big moment for me! This is a shot from the first wedding I shot with James and Meredith! (For those who don't follow the blog I just completed an internship with them). I played with the lens baby most of the day and that gave me some interesting stuff, this is the shot James chose to put on his blog! be sure to check out Walters and Walters blog at blog.waltersandwalters.com!

1 Mask, 3 Girls

This was another extremely enjoyable shoot, the models were excellent, the clothing was interesting, and the mask was well... wierd. I had a lot of fun. Special Thanks - Rebecca Nugent, Brittany Mize, Rebekah Reiff, Lee Brown, and James Walters

Superfly

This was a very enjoyable fashion shoot, even though it was frought with complications. We had 5 models scheduled for the day... 2 showed up. God bless models. However, the two models who did come did a fantastic job. We had originally planned for some sort of Glam look but when we got to the costumers the clothes lead us for 1970's undercover! All in all it was a great day and a great shoot. Special Thanks - Alex Marshall Brown, Patrick Osteen, and James Walters
The Paris Collection

This collection is from Paris, France. Paris wasn't my favorite place but it was beautiful. French food, however, is amazing! The last photo in the collection is sunrise at the eiffel tower, yes it was beautiful but it was also about 10 degrees outside, so you can decide if you want to do that on your vacation.

Professional Model

Working with professional models is completely different than working with "Pretty Girls". After spending some time with them you start to realize how much time and effort is put into being able to give the photographer what he wants without him having to drag it out of you.
This particular model did a spectacular job and was very easy to work with. The make-up and hair stylist for the day also did a bang up job. all in all everyone involved seem to be spot on.

Surrealism

This was my attempt at surrealism. I like that concept but honestly it wasn't worth the trouble.
however it does give me an excuse to tell this joke... How many surrealists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?...........Fish

Lifestyles

This was a lifestyles assignment. Everyshot in this series needed to have 2 or more people and they must have a computer in them. I very much enjoyed this assignment, I used Monolights to enhance the natural lighting that was already in the room. My models, Mel Stanley and Lee brown were very easy to work with and made this assignment a lot of fun to do.

Nathan's Apple Turnover

This photo was shot at 1/250 @ f/16 using speedotron strobe lighting
These are a few apple desserts that I created one night in search of an apple dessert I would enjoy. The dessert consists of chopped green apple (including peels) mixed with cinnamon wrapped inside slices of pie crust. If you want to try the recipe out just cook for about 15 minutes @ 400 degrees.

Portfolio Pieces-Poker and Willow

This is a very personal piece I did for my portfolio. again its on 4X5 transparency which really makes you become more intimate with your subject. I'm not sure why but this piece really means a lot to me.

This is a piece I shot on 4X5 transparency film. it was a lot of fun to light but keeping animals sitting up was difficult

Portfolio Piece-Becca

This is a young up and coming model named Becca. I used Becca to do some model testing in the studio on 4X5 transparency film. The shoot was a lot of fun to do and Becca was very professional and easy to work with. This piece was used in my large format portfolio. I really love this piece because it is the direction that I really enjoy taking with my personal and professional work.
